day after the police nabbed three gangs for their alleged involvement in chain-snatching in the city, the menace continued, with four more incidents being reported at different places.

In the two incidents reported at Malkajgiri and Kushaiguda, only one person was involved in the offence, creating confusion among the police and fear among residents. In recent days, two offenders on bikes went on a chain-snatching spree across the city with around 20 incidents being reported during the last one week. At Malkajgiri, a housewife, Poornima, 38, of State Bank of India colony, lost her one-and-a-half-tola gold chain. The woman was going to a bank when a lone offender snatched a chain from her at a secluded thoroughfare in the colony and escaped on a motorcycle. The incident took place at around 12.15 p.m., the Malkajgiri police said.

Half an hour before that incident, chain-snatching was reported at Indiranagar in Kushaiguda where an offender grabbed a gold chain weighing three tolas from a housewife, M. Kamala, 51. The woman was returning after buying groceries at a store in the locality when the miscreant struck, the police said.

In a separate case at Vanasthalipuram, Jayamma, 54, of the High Court colony, was victimised by two bike-borne miscreants who yanked away a four-tola chain from her on Saturday morning. The woman was standing in front of her house when a miscreant approached and swiftly grabbed the chain and ran towards his associate who was standing a little away. Later, the duo sped off on a bike.

A little away at L.B. Nagar, another housewife became a victim. Susheela, 54, of Krushinagar was on a morning walk when two unidentified persons grabbed her gold chain and zoomed away on a bike. The woman fell, and sustained a fracture.
