The State government has intensified efforts to ensure complete compliance with the reforms specified under the Ease Of Doing Business (EODB) to secure the top slot in the country this year.
Accordingly, the State has complied with almost all the 80 parameters specified under the EODB, a joint exercise conducted by the World Bank and the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion of the Centre. “Compliance reports related to over 75 of the 80 parameters have been received and the remaining will be completed within the next fortnight,” a senior Industries Department official said.
The State received a breather as the last date for submission of the compliance report had been extended to June 15 and it has accordingly initiated steps to expedite the introduction of reforms in line with the EODB parameters.
The State had been in the forefront in the introduction of reforms in various departments, including Pollution Control Board, Forests, Industries, Energy and GST, as could be seen from the 100 score it received in the reform evidence parameter, sources said.
Feedback survey
It, however, lagged behind neighbouring Andhra Pradesh in terms of feedback mechanism involving the views of the stakeholders like the industrial establishment.
The State secured 83.65% in terms of feedback survey while Andhra Pradesh’s score was 86.5% in this parameter enabling it to inch past Telangana.
“We have reservations over the transparency with which the feedback mechanism had been assessed in the past. But, effective planning went into the feedback mechanism while there is total compliance in terms of reform evidence. We are sure to retain the top slot,” the official told The Hindu .
As part of the exercise, efforts had been initiated to link land records available of the Chief Commissioner of Land Administration with the data of Municipal Administration and Panchayat Raj departments so that it would ensure single window clearances to prospective entrepreneurs planning to invest in the State.
