A day after the suicide of Kukunoorpalli Sub-Inspector T. Prabhakar Reddy, who shot himself with his service pistol, the body was brought to his village at Aler mandal where amid a sea of humanity his funeral was conducted.

After the postmortem, the body was brought to Tangutur village under Aler mandal in Yadadri-Bhongir district in the wee hours of Thursday. The vehicle carrying Reddy’s body made its way from their house in the afternoon with Bhongir DCP P. Yadagiri overseeing the funeral procession to avoid any tension in the village. Also present were members from the Police Welfare Association (PWA), who assured the family of all the entitlements that they would receive.

Y. Gopi Reddy from the PWA appealed to the media to be sensitive in broadcasting such news and not to resort to sensationalism. Relatives of Mr. Reddy too informed that the family felt emotionally and mentally tortured by the media and requested privacy and empathy at this hour. Relative of Mr. Reddy said, “We do not believe in this suicide theory. It was a a planned murder made to look like suicide.” A thorough probe into the incident should be done, they said.

The Bhongir DCP assured the family members of an investigation to unearth the facts and said the culprits would be booked.

Bhongir ACP S. Mohan Reddy was among the other police officials present.

T. Prabhakar Redy is survived by wife Rachana and a four-month-old baby.
