Students receive kits to test water quality

Scores of students from government schools at Basar in the district were given kits for testing water quality and told about the methods to use it, on Thursday. The programme conducted jointly by National Green Corps and Earthwatch Institute was held near at Godavari river.

According to NGC Project Officer Vidyasagar Boske, the freshwater testing project is going on in 25 countries the world over and aims at involving one lakh people in learning how to safeguard water quality and quantity. The students were told about the common pollutants and their source and trained to use the testing kits for detecting nitrates, phosphates contamination and turbidity of water, he said.
