Sixty artistes arrested, released in Medak

June 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - SANGAREDDY:

The police of Indirakaran in Medak district arrested about 60 artistes who were on a campaign against MLA and Telangana Samskritika Sarathi president Rasamayi Balakishan.

According to DSP M. Tirupatanna, in a routine police check, they came across a team of artistes coming from Hyderabad to conduct a programme at Sangareddy. They were taken to Indrakaran police station and released on personal bond after registering cases under Section 151 of IPC for not taking prior permission to conduct the programme.

According to sources, one R. Ramulu took permission from the police four days ago to conduct the programme and also booked the TNGO Hall. However, after coming to know that the programme was aimed against Mr. Balakishan, some of the ruling party leaders reportedly brought pressure on the TNGO Bhavan organisers. They have been alleging that Mr. Balaksihan had deprived jobs for genuine artists who participated in the separate State movement.

The artists arrested included Nernala Kishore, Daruvu Anjanna and others. Later in the evening they were released.
