Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao left nothing to chance in making TRS win maximum number of wards unanimously in the run up to Siddipet municipal elections scheduled for April 6. On the day of withdrawal on Friday, six candidates from ruling TRS were elected unanimously with candidates from other parties withdrawing their nomination. The official announcement was awaited.

Thirty four wards in Siddipet municipality are going for elections. The merger of six villages surrounding the municipality has resulted in the increase in the number of wards from the earlier 32.

With this, only 146 candidates remained in the fray in 28 wards with five nominations rejected out of 323 and 166 candidates withdrawing their nomination.

The candidates who were unanimously elected include – Venkatesh Goud from 13th ward, K. Rajanarsu (16th ward), Vijaya Lakshmi (18th ward), Pooja Latha (19th ward), Mantena Jyothi (21st ward) and Boora Srinivas (24th ward). With six candidates being elected unanimously, elections would be held for the remaining 28 wards.
