Several TRS leaders eyeing nominated posts

January 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:06 am IST - WARANGAL:

Scores of TRS leaders and those who were associated with separate Telangana movement were tight-lipped waiting for the Chief

Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to take a decision on filling up the nominated posts in the State.

Contestants who lost election like Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, aspirants like M Yadava Reddy of Telangana Graduates Association (TGA) and district president T Ravinder Rao who could not get ticket and many who are associated with various organisations are eagerly waiting for their share of power.

The leaders of Telangana Vidyavanthula Vedika, Telangana Graduates Association, KU Students JAC, TNGOs and JACs of various other departments are pitching in. The KU students’ bodies came out openly urging the Chief Minister to consider nominating one or two from the KU campus as was done from Osmania University campus. The Chief Minister has nominated Pidamarthi Ravi as SC Corporation chairman recently.

A senior activist expressed his apprehension that filling of nominated posts may be put off as long as possible as it would be difficult to please all the aspirants. “The Congress party did not fill the posts at all despite securing power for two terms. It was too much. But we hope the TRS government may fill up as a mark of thanks to important leaders who took part in separate Telangana agitation,” he told The Hindu. The TRS leaders Acha Vidyasagar, Nannapaneni Narender, Bollam Sampath Kumar, Nagurla Venkateswarlu, Md Nayeemuddin, Akula Lalitha and many more are aspiring for posts.

Senior academics like K Sitarama Rao, TNGOs leader Paritala Subba Rao, Archaka Samakhya president Gangu Upendra Sharma were also hoping that Mr. Rao would recognise their services and honour them accordingly.

The district has got very few posts and there is too much competition. Though many of the aspirants eye for State-level posts, in Warangal district one could hope for Enumamula Market Committee chairman, Library Committee chairman and Kakatiya Urban Development Authority chairmanship among others like temple committees and market committees across the district. Refusing to be named, a senior leader said since there were many aspirants, nobody knows whom KCR would favour. Meanwhile, some of the journalists were also expecting some suitable posts either in I&PR department or peshis of Ministers.
