Senior citizens seek exemption from the rule

October 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - NIZAMABAD:

Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy positively responded to a plea made by senior citizens to exempt them from wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers and assured them that he will look into the matter.

Taking part as chief guest at the World Senior Citizens’ Day celebrations organised by the Senior Citizens’ Welfare Society here on Thursday, Mr. Chandrashekar Reddy praised the society for its services in the form of conducting health and eye camps and extension of financial assistance to funerals and marriages. He said he would act immediately if the members brought to his notice any kind of negligence on part of their children. Senior citizens were a great asset to the society, he said and asked them to guide the youth with their valuable suggestions. The SP lauded the society founder president M.A. Shukur and other members for running the non-profit organisation. Later, he also felicitated them.
