Collector M. Ram Mohan Rao has said that under the flagship programme of Rythu Bandhu a total of ₹181.39 crore was remitted directly in the accounts of 2.25 lakh farmers each at the rate of ₹4,000 per acre during the 2018-19 kharif season in the district.

The process of remitting farm investment in the farmers’ accounts for Yasangi (rabi) is on. Under Rythu Bima ₹1,135 lakhs was remitted in the bank accounts of 227 nominees. Speaking after unfurling the national flag on the Police Parade Ground, in connection with the 70th Republic Day celebrations, here on Saturday, he said that the 24-hour supply of free current to farm sector launched in the district on January 1, 2018 has been continuing uninterrupted.

Ever since the Government of India introduced the e-NAM (electronic national agriculture marketing) a large number of farmers were benefitted by selling their produce at the national market rate without the intervention of middlemen, he said.

Tableaux of different departments and cultural programmes staged by students enthralled the audience.
