After the launch of investment support programme for farmers on Thursday it was obvious that some people have struck an emotional cord with it as seen from their tweets to IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao.

A Class Seven student of Kendriya Vidyalaya in Rajanna Sircilla district, represented by Mr. Rao, P. Akshitha announced a donation of ₹ 30,000 from her kiddy bank savings.

Anil Kumar Amirshetty who runs a grocery in Uppal announced a donation of ₹ 4,000 immediately and an equal amount next month as his contribution to adopt at least one farmer under the scheme. He noted that it was his cherished desire to buy a piece of land but never succeeded.

Ram Palarapu, a software engineer in Taiwan, expressed a desire in his tweet that he wanted to be part of the programme because the joy of giving was unimaginable and the inner joy was always experienced by helping others to enhance their living standards.

At the State-wide launch programme attended by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at Huzurabad, a farmer with long years of experience Raji Reddy was all praise for Mr. Rao for giving the farming community a handholding in a bid to ensure that they were not dependent on moneylenders for loans.

Mr. Reddy who received a cheque and his new Pattadar passbook at the hands of the Chief Minister was jubilant as he said that the programme would help the farmers to take up agricultural operations with ease and purchase their choicest seeds, fertilizers and pesticides without relying on traders and moneylenders.

Earlier, the traders used to dictate terms to farmers to buy the formers’ seed since they advanced the loans.

They can no longer do it because the farmers have money well before the start of the season and they can buy seed and other inputs on their own terms, he said.
