As feared by the district administration, some of the officials allegedly misappropriated government funds meant for distribution to land oustees under Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) package. Taking serious view of this, the district Collector suspended two officials and ordered inquiry against two others in the incident.

The Collector also appointed five teams comprising revenue officials to enquire into the allegations and take action immediately. These teams are looking into the allegations being levelled by beneficiaries and others and ascertaining the facts.

Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar suspended field assistant V. Nagaraju for allegedly collecting R&R package for his daughter Pooja who was a minor. By manipulating records she was shown as major and made eligible for R&R package. In another case, Ramapur village revenue assistant (VRA) Swamy connived with some local leaders of the village and misappropriated the funds. He was also suspended by the Collector.

According to sources, the enquiry is also on into the alleged corruption of a sarpanch and a village revenue officer (VRO). “The Collector is serious about the corruption allegations and the action will be serious including criminal cases. No one will be spared,” said an official involved in the process.
