Circle Inspector of Ichoda, S. Satheesh Kumar, and Neredigonda Sub Inspector of Police G. Hari Shekhar were on Thursday attached to the office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Karimnagar Range, for their suspected role in timber smuggling case which was detected by Nirmal police on January 21. According to sources, investigations revealed the two officers had connived with the arrested persons in the case and ensured that the lorry laden with illegally felled teak wood crossed the district borders.

The seizure of a lorry load of teak wood at Soan forest check post turned out to be a wide spread racket involving forest and police officials of Adilabad, Nirmal and Nizamabad districts, besides politicians who ran saw mills in Nizamabad. Sources also indicated the several heads will roll as the investigation progresses in the coming days.
