Coal production hit
Incessant rains from Saturday night that continued on Sunday too had affected the coal production at the Open Cast Projects of the Singareni Collieries Company limited (SCCL) in Ramagundam coal belt region.
Rain inundated all the four OCPs in the region forcing the authorities to stop coal production as the dumpers and other heavy vehicles would not move in the slurry mine. It is estimated that the coal production worth over 40,000 metric tonnes was affected following the rains.
Though, the authorities were removing the water through pumps from the OCPs, but the production would be also hampered even on Monday because of wet conditions and prevailing rains. The Ramagundam mandal recorded 70 mm rainfall on Sunday.
Continuous drizzle
Nizamabad Special Correspondent adds: Continuous drizzle since the last night brought cheer to farmers as it boosted the agriculture activity in the district. They intensified the sowing of soya, maize, jowar and other ID crops and are preparing the fields to raise paddy nurseries.
Hope for farmers
Though not a significant amount of rainfall recorded the showers arrived earlier compared to the last season gave hope to farmers to carry out farming activity. On the other hand, the authorities made available all necessary seed generally sowed in the kharif and fertilizer to supply on demand.
