Minister hands over insurance bonds to farmers

The TRS government led by K. Chandrasekhar Rao introduced a very useful scheme for farmers by providing them all the life insurance of ₹5 lakh, Agriculture Minister P. Srinivas Reddy said and added that 51 lakh farmers aged between 18 and 59 years are being given insurance bonds.

Participating in a function to distribute insurance bonds’ at Rajiv Nagar tanda in Bodhan division, on Saturday, the Minister said that ₹632 crore at the rate of ₹2,271 premium on each bond was paid to the Life Insurance Corporation. The scheme would come into effect from midnight on August 14, he said.

He said the idea of Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao was to extend succour to the bereaved families of farmers in the event of their natural or accidental death. This would go a long way in ensuring financial security to the poor families, he said.

Mr. Srinivas Reddy said in the State a total of 1,932 tribal hamlets having more than 500 population had become gram panchayats and Rajiv Nagar was one among them. Thus, village administration came to the doorstep of each tribal family, he added.

Bodhan MLA Mohammed Shakeel Amir, Collector M. Ram Mohan Rao and DCCB chairman Gangadhar Rao Patwari were present. Earlier the Minister dropped fish seedlings in the Kalki tank at Banswada and performed pooja at Telangana Tirumala temple at Timmapur of Beerkur mandal.
