Private college breaks tie-up with Vijayawada college

Various student unions and the Private Colleges Management Association dropped their proposed stir here on Monday following an announcement by a town-based private junior college to sever its ‘tie-up’ with a Vijayawada-based corporate college and function independently henceforth.

The raging controversy over the alleged pact between a Vijayawada-based corporate college with a town-based private junior college-cum-school ended on Monday with the decision taken by the management of the latter to cancel its ‘agreement’ with the former.

The decision comes in the wake of a series of agitations by the students unions such as the SFI and PDSU besides, the private colleges management association against the alleged attempts by a Vijayawada-based corporate college to spread its activities across the town.

Speaking at a meeting here, the town-based private college correspondent Sridhar declared that his institution’s partnership with a Vijayawada-based corporate college would be cancelled.

CPI(M) district secretary P. Sudarshan Rao said the student unions and the college managements association representing the private colleges in the town prevented the attempts by a corporate entity from gaining a foothold in the town.

Khammam legislator P. Ajay Kumar and others spoke on the controversial issue.
