Mother and relatives of K. Suresh, prime suspect in killing of Abdullapurmet Tahsildar, coming out from Osmania General Hospital after learning that he had succumbed to his burns in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Thirtyseven-year-old Kura Suresh, who allegedly set ablaze Abdullapurmet Tahsildar Ch. Vijaya Reddy in her office on November 4, succumbed to his burns on Thursday.

Doctors at Osmania General Hospital declared him dead at 3.25 p.m. “Around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Suresh was put on a ventilator at plastic surgery ICU and breathed his last this afternoon,” Resident Medical Officer Rafi said here on Thursday.

Suresh, a farmer from Gouravelli village in Rangareddy district, entered Ms. Vijaya Reddy’s chambers at her office in Abdullapurmet around 1.30 p.m. on Monday, and doused her with petrol and set her ablaze, and he also was on fire when he came out of the room. He had suffered 65 % burns and was soon rushed to a private hospital after he collapsed on the veranda of the MRO office. After conducting an autopsy at OGH morgue, Suresh’s body was shifted to Gouravelli village where his funeral was held on Thursday evening. The proceedings were video recorded in the presence of Vanasthalipuram ACP S. Jayaram.

In his dying declaration before a magistrate, Suresh is reported to have said that he resorted to the extreme step as Ms. Vijaya Reddy was not issuing him pattadar passbooks for the land in Bacharam village.

“He visited the MRO office to execute the attack after speaking to his family members Durgaiah and several others,” an officer associated with the investigation of the murder said. Suresh’s father Kura Krishan and villagers Bhikshapati and Anand were taken into custody for questioning.

The officer said that they were investigating in all possible angles to see the involvement of others in the attack and have analysed the call details of Mr. Suresh.

Ms. Vijaya Reddy’s driver Gurunadham, who suffered more than 80% burns while trying to rescue her, died on Tuesday, while her office aide Chandraiah is admitted to Apollo DRDO Hospital in Kanchanbagh here. Doctors said Chandraiah sustained 25 % burns and is recuperating. Suresh survived by his wife Latha and two children, who are studying in fourth and second class.

He was booked for the murder of Ms. Vijay Reddy and attempt to murder of three persons, including her driver, office aide and another person who was in the MRO office.
