Prakasam girl tops Telangana EAMCET medicine test

In the first-ever EAMCET organised in Telangana in the engineering stream students from Hyderabad region bagged seven out of the top 10 ranks.

The Telangana Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) saw a student from Andhra Pradesh topping the medical stream apart from five from A.P. figuring in the top 10 ranks while the engineering stream saw students from Hyderabad region bagging seven out of the top 10 ranks.

The results of the first EAMCET in Telangana were released by Education Minister and Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari at the JNTU here on Thursday. In the medical stream, Uppalapti Priyanka of Pakasham District topped the medical stream with the combined score of 99.96 and she scored 160 out of 160 in the EAMCET.

In the engineering stream, Moparthi Sai Sandeep of Hyderabad bagged the top position with 98.34 combined score while he secured 157 marks out of 160 in the EAMCET. The ranks are calculated taking 25 per cent of the Intermediate marks into consideration.

12,454 candidates fail in Inter

In the engineering stream 1,28,162 candidates appeared of which 1,04,373 qualified. However, ranks were awarded to 90,556 candidates only as 12,454 candidates failed in the Intermediate exams, which is a pre-requsite for securing the rank.

In the agriculture/medicine stream 84,659 candidates appeared of which 78,983 qualified while ranks were given to 72,794 candidates only as 4,994 students failed in the Intermediate exam. From Andhra Pradesh state 10,480 students appeared for the test in engineering of which 9,332 qualified while in the medical stream 22,302 appeared from AP of which 21,534 qualified.

The Minister said that counselling will start from June 18 and certificate verification will be held from June 18 to 24. Web options can be given from June 20 to 26. Second phase will be held from July 9 to 10. Allotments will be held on July 14. Classes will be held from July 21.
