“Police martyrs’ kin will get jobs”

A special government order will be brought out to provide government jobs to the eligible kin of policemen who had laid down their lives fighting extremism in the district, according to Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna. He gave instructions to Collector M. Jagan Mohan on Wednesday to send a report to the government seeking such a GO as two children of police martyrs were awaiting jobs.

The Minister paid floral tributes to police martyrs at the AR headquarters in connection with the Police Commemoration Day along with MP G. Nagesh, Boath MLA Rathod Bapu Rao, Superintendent of Police Tarun Joshi and others. The issue of jobs to eligible kin of martyrs came up during the interaction of the Minister with family members of police martyrs.

The observation of Commemoration Day started with the SP reading out the names of 521 policemen who had laid down their lives across the country during the year. This was followed by homage, Smriti Parade and a rally in town.

House site pattas were given to families of two martyrs who were left out in the earlier instance. Prizes were given to winners of literary competitions held in the previous week and winners of the photography contest.

Khammam Staff Reporter adds: Rich tributes were paid to police martyrs’ at a ceremony held on the occasion of the Police Commemoration Day on the police parade grounds here on Wednesday.

Minister for Roads & Buildings T. Nageswara Rao, Collector D.S. Lokesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police Shahnawaz Qasim and others offered floral tributes to the Police Martyrs’ Memorial on the occasion.

The speakers recalled the services of the policemen, who made supreme sacrifices at the altar of duty.

The Minister presented prizes to the winners of elocution and essay writing competitions on the theme ‘Citizen’s role in promoting communal harmony’ earlier held as part of the Police Commemoration Week observance.

Meanwhile, photographer Chava Sampath secured consolation prize at the State-level short film competition organised by the Police Department on the theme “People friendly policing – Role of police in social activities”. He received the consolation prize of Rs. 5,000 from Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
