Cong. demands CM keep his promise

Rajanna-Sircilla district Congress committee leaders have organized a padayatra from Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Devasthanam in Vemulawada to the Sircilla on Saturday demanding that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao fulfill the promise made for the development of the Vemulawada temple.

DCC president K. Mruthyunjaym flagged off the rally which was led by TPCC vice-president and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar, district leader Adi Srinivas and others. Earlier, the Congress leaders offered prayers to the presiding deities of the temple shrine and launched the padayatra from the temple to Sircilla amid slogans of “Shambo Shankara”, “Hara hara mahadeva”, “Aum Namah Shivaya”.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prabhakar said that they were not demanding anything new and only asking that the government fulfill its promise of allocating ₹ 100 crore per annum totalling ₹ 400 crore in four years period for the development of the temple. He said that the Chief Minister during his visit in 2015 promised to allocate ₹ 100 crore per annum to the temple.

The government constituted the Vemulawada Temple Development Authority (VTDA) but its office was located in Hyderabad, he said and demanded that the government locate the VDTA office in Vemulawada only. IT Minister K. Taraka Rama Rao, Karimnagar MP B. Vinod Kumar and Vemulawada MLA Ch. Ramesh Babu do not believe in God, he said and urged the government to release the promised ₹ 400 crore immediately to wash off its sins as the government term would be completed soon.
