Overwhelming response to Yoga Day celebrations

Felicitation of yoga trainers, release of pamphlets on the benefits of yoga and other programmes mark the occasion

International Yoga Day was celebrated with enthusiasm with people practising yoga asanas in various parts of Karimnagar town on Sunday.

The main function was organised by Nature Cure Hospital, Pathanjali Yoga Samithi, at the Padmanayaka kalyana mandapam wherein Zilla Parishad chairperson Tula Uma participated as chief guest and talked about the importance of practising yoga for a healthy living.

Similarly, Apollo Reach Hospital in Karimnagar town also observed International Yoga Day. On the occasion, doctors, para-medical staff and executive staff of the hospital practised yoga. Hospital administrative officer Babu Rao, superintendent A. Naresh and others were present.

SKNR Government Arts and Science College in Jagtial town also took part in the celebrations. Jagtial legislator T. Jeevan Reddy participated as chief guest and Sub-Collector Krishna Prasad, NCC and NSS students also practised yoga.

Nizamabad Special Correspondent adds: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to participate in the International Yoga Day celebrations evoked an overwhelming response from all sections of the society across the district.

Students, teachers, the young and old alike participated in yoga exercises at schools, colleges, government and private offices. While taking part in the yoga session organised by the district administration at Sri Rama Gardens, Joint Collector A. Ravinder Reddy said that practising yoga would ensure mental peace and physical fitness. He also said that yoga was being practised in over 177 countries today.

District yoga association president Ramchander said that yoga could help in keeping mental stress at bay.

Nehru Yuva Kendra, Ayush, yoga association, IRCS and the district youth welfare department jointly organised the yoga session. Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy and Mayor Akula Sujatha were among those who attended the programme.

Warangal Special Correspondent adds: A group of youngsters engaged in various social service activities, through their organisation Sulakshya Seva Samithi, organised an awareness session ‘Understanding the ABCD of YOGA’ to mark International Yoga Day at Oasis Orphanage in Hanamkonda.

Speaking on the occasion, founder and president of the organisation, Santhosh Manduva, said that yoga nurtures, enriches and makes one physically fit, mentally alert, emotionally balanced, intellectually strong, socially conscious and spiritually uplifted.

The chief guest at the event, K. Manohar, Superintendent of MGM Hospital, said he was glad to see that the age-old practice which had originated in India, was getting recognition on a global level. “I will adopt this orphanage, conduct regular medical camps and support the kids,” he said.

Secretary of Bharat Swabhiman Trust, Warangal chapter, Bandari Mogilaiah, averred that yoga should be part of the curriculum and practised in all educational institutes. Children at the orphanage were taught various asanas. Later, a healthy meal was served to them. Bharat Swabhiman Trust women’s chapter president Srilatha, Manduva Shiva Sampath of Sulakshya Seva Samithi, Oasis Orphanage in-charge Oddiraj Chandraprakash and others were present. 

Sangareddy Staff Reporter adds: Famous yoga master and Patanjali Yoga Centre president T. Shivaraj Singh called upon people to practice yoga to relieve themselves of stress and other problems.

As part of the International Yoga Day celebrations, yoga was practised at TNGO Bhavan in the district headquarters. Presiding over the programme, Mr. Shivaraj Singh reiterated that yoga was one of the best concepts for good health proposed by Rishis, Yogis and Siddhas.

Ayush representative Anita Praiyadarshini said that yoga helps to strike a healthy balance between the mind and body.

Dr. Shobha Rani said that the importance of yoga was being recognised across the globe.

Khammam Staff Reporter adds: Felicitation of yoga trainers, release of pamphlets highlighting the benefits of yoga among a host of other programmes, marked International Yoga Day in the district. NCC cadets from various parts of the district took part in a yoga demonstration held at Sequel Resorts in the town on Sunday. The mega event was organised at the concluding session of a district-level yoga training camp for NCC cadets.

Khammam MLA Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Commanding Officer of 11 Telangana NCC Battalion, Khammam, Col. V.M. Swamy, Associate NCC Officer of SR&BGNR Government Degree and PG College Lt. John Milton, among others, attended the ceremony.

Students of the Singareni Women’s Degree College took out a rally to spread awareness on yoga in Kothagudem. Several yoga trainers were felicitated at a ceremony organised by the Singareni Seva Samithi at KCOA club in the coal town. The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) Director (Operations), B. Ramesh Kumar, General Manager (Personnel, Welfare and CSR) A. Ananda Rao and others participated in the function.

Nalgonda Staff Reporter adds: To mark International Yoga Day, a number of programmes were organised across the district. In Nalgonda, a number of officials and citizens took part in a programme conducted at the Police Auditorium wherein Joint Collector N. Satyanarayana, police officials and others took part in huge numbers. In Bhongir, Brahmakumaris Ishwariya Vidyalaya conducted a programme, in which MLA Pyla Shekar Reddy and others took part. Bharatiya Janata Party Treasurer G. Manohar Reddy took part in another programme organised at Choutuppal. Despite continuous rain, attendance was good in programmes organised across the district.
