The elected representatives of all political parties, revenue officials, and civilians along with the police are now visiting the houses of Maoists and urging their parents to ensure the surrender of naxalites and to shun violence and strive for the reconstruction of Telangana State.

Peddapalli legislator D. Manohara Reddy, RDO Narayana Reddy, municipal chairman L. Rajaiah, municipal councillors, local civilians along with police officials including Superintendent of Police V Shiva Kumar, OSD L. Subbarayudu, DSP P. Venugopal Rao, CI A Ramulu and others visited the house of Maoist central committee member and politburo member Mallojula Venugopal Rao in Peddapalli town and counselled his mother Madhuramma to ensure the surrender of Venugopal Rao, who carried a reward of Rs. 50 lakh.

Incidentally, Venugopal Rao is the younger brother of Maoists central committee member Mallojuja Koteshwara Rao alias Kishenji, who was killed in an encounter in West Bengal few years ago. Mr. Manohara Reddy assured all assistance from the government for suitable rehabilitation of the naxalite leader. During the counselling programme, the RDO promised to solve their land problem and provide patta to their lands very soon.

Ms. Madhuramma also responded positively to the appeal made by the civil society and urged her son to surrender and lead a normal life. Recollecting that both her sons had joined the naxalite movement for the cause of Telangana, she said now that Telangana State was formed, it was time for them to join the mainstream and strive for reconstruction of the State. She became emotional when she recollected the death of her elder son Kishenji in an encounter.

Superintendent of Police Shiva Kumar appealed to the naxalite leaders to join mainstream and assured of suitable rehabilitation including their reward amount, house site and financial assistance from the banks. On this occasion, the SP and legislator provided Madhuramma with saree and sweets. The police also took a doctor along with them and provided medical assistance.
