Adilabad MP G. Nagesh on Thursday underscored the need for filling up vacant posts of doctors to improve services at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Adilabad. He said as many as 97 posts of doctors of a sanctioned strength of 157 were vacant at the premier medical institute.
Giving details of the vacancies at a meeting of the RIMS Hospital Development Committee, the MP said that of the existing 44 doctors, only 11 were regular while the remaining were working on contract.
He and the committee chairperson, V. Shobha Rani, also underscored the need for coordination among different departments for improving services.
While talking about sanitation, Mr. Nagesh urged hospital authorities to keep the premises clean so that patients did not suffer.
He, however, observed that the hospital services had improved during the last five months.
The Committee members, comprising Sirpur MLA Koneru Konappa, Boath MLA Rathod Bapu Rao and RIMS Director Hemantha Rao were also present.
The Committee members visited wards and interacted with patients.
