Maoist surrenders

Following ill-health, Maoists dalam commander Burra Baghya alias Aruna has surrendered before Superintendent of Police D Joel Davis on Friday night.

In a press note here on Friday, the SP said that the Baghya, a native of Subhashnagar locality in Husnabad mandal, joined the group when she was studying Intermediate in 1998.

She worked as dalam member in Karimnagar, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra.

The SP had immediately shifted the surrendered naxalite to a hospital for treatment. He promised to provide reward amount of Rs 5 lakh and other government rehabilitation to her.

The Superintendent of Police also appealed to the Maoists to surrender and lead normal life.
