What might be the value of a house constructed in a village? Can you imagine? The house of one Dumbala Anasuya of Mamidyala village in Mulugu mandal was put at a whopping amount of ₹96,22,42,248.

This is one of the villages that would get submerged in the ongoing construction of Kondapochamma Reservoir in the constituency being represented by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The farmers of three villages - Mamidyala, Bailampur, Thanedarpally and Thenedarpally tanda have sold their lands for the construction of the project and now it was their turn to sell houses as well.

The officials visited these villages in the recent past promising the residents that the value of the houses would be fixed and the list published. The residents allege assessment of value of houses was not done properly by the officials and putting the cost of a tiled house at ₹96.22 crore stands as an example.

The residents of Bailampur, who received the list of value of houses last week, had also expressed their displeasure over the rates finalised by the officials and put forth their demands. Their memorandum was submitted to the MRO Nagamani. Now the residents of Mamidayala were also getting ready to present a memorandum to the officials on Monday.

Migrants rally

Meanwhile, some residents took out a rally in the village on Sunday demanding extension of rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) package to them. Those persons were natives of the village, but migrated to other places to make a living.

They, however, have their assets in the village. They were informed by the officials that the package would not be offered to them as they were not staying in the village.

“We had migrated to other places only for a living. Still we are having assets here and will not sell them to government if it was not ready to extend the R&R package to us,” said one of the villagers.
