State Legal Services Authority member-secretary A. Santhose Reddy has said that in a democracy, every citizen is supposed to have equal justice and if anyone feels that his or her rights enshrined in the Constitution are violated, they can approach courts or legal services authorities at all levels.

Addressing the legal empowerment camp (New Module) organised on child-friendly legal services to children and their protection scheme-2015 here on Saturday, he said legal service authorities were formed from national level down to mandals through an Act made in Parliament in 1987.

This Act would help protect the legal rights of women and children and ensure equal justice to them. It would also ensure that all the schemes meant for the two categories were strictly implemented, he said.

About 2,000 children, including differently abled, from various government schools attended the camp. Skits on child marriage and “beti bachao beti padao” made by children were displayed on the occasion. Sports skits and dictionaries provided by advocates P. Hanmanth Reddy, Prakash Reddy and Tulasi Das were given to the children.

A wheelchair donated by senior advocate Jagadeeswar Rao to the Rotary Club was handed over to the District Legal Services Authority to keep it in the court for the use of differently abled persons.

Principal District and Sessions Judge K. Sujana was chief guest and Commissioner of Police (in-charge) N. Swetha Reddy guest of honour. Family court judge Sudarshan, SC, ST Court judge Ramesh, Magistrates Suryachandrakala, Ramalingam, Chandana, Vidya Nayak, Uma Maheswari, Bar Association secretary Jagan Mohan Goud and DLSA member Rajkumar Subedar were present.
