The Civil Liberties Committee Telangana State unit leaders strongly condemned the State government for branding the Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika (TVV) as a cover organization of the Maoists.
Talking to newsmen here on Thursday, CLC State general secretary N. Narayana Rao, joint secretary M. Kumaraswamy and others alleged that the government was using the police to suppress the organisations which were raising their voice against it. As part of it, the government had labelled the TVV a Maoist supporters as it was leading raising its voice and leading the protest against corporate junior colleges, Intermediate results fiasco, Globarena company and suicide by Intermediate students, they said.
Talking about the Police referring to cases registered against the TVV leaders in Chhattisgarh and Telangana states, they said the case against Nasir and others in Chhattisgarh was quashed by the court as the TVV leaders were arrested in Dummagudem region and the cases registered in Kunta police station of Chhattisgarh. Similarly, the cases registered in the Telangana State were false and fabricated, they stated.
False cases
How can anyone be branded as Maoists supporters when the court had not convicted them, they asked. “The registration of cases alone does not mean that they are criminals or having links with Maoists. If that is the case, several cases were registered against Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar, TRS working president K. Taraka Rama Rao and others during the Statehood movement,” they pointed out. The Chief Minister himself had once said that “naxalite agenda was his agenda” and that does not mean that he had become naxalite, they said and claimed that Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao had once even said that he would become the State president of the CLC.
Appealing the government to protect the democracy in the newly formed state, they urged the police not to register any cases against the TVV leaders of the Satavahana University or terrorise them. They and urged the government to withdraw all the false cases registered against them TVV leaders in the State. CLC district president GAV Prasad, Dalit Liberation Front State secretary Marwadi Sudarshan, Kula Nirmulana Porata Samithi State secretary B. Abhinav and others were present.
