The deadline for the persons displaced by the Kondapochamma reservoir to vacate their villages has been set. They have to vacate their villages before June 30th, 2019 as water will be filled in the reservoir before July.

The officials have been reportedly collecting signatures on an affidavit from the oustees who were paid package amount.

“I --- am son of --- the resident of --- village aged ---. I am signing this affidavit before the revenue divisional officer of Gajwel authorised by Rehabilitation and Resettlement Officer/ Joint Collector. My house number --- is getting submerged under Kondapochammasagar and was acquired by Gajwel RDO. As my family become land oustee I was paid compensation under Land Acquisition Act and I accepted it without pressure from anyone. I am also assuring that I will not approach any court or forum in this regard.” “I will vacate my house before June 30th and I have no objection to the filling of water in the reservoir in July, 2019.” Such affidavits are being signed by the land oustees of Kondapochamma reservoir.

Some of the residents of Mamidyala and Bailampur have confirmed that the signatures are being collected from the oustees after being paid the package cheques and more than 100 persons have already signed these papers and thereby accepted to leave the village before the end of June.

“We do not know what will be the fate of widowed women. They were tagged to the family of son in many cases. Whether the children will take care of them or not is a big question which will be revealed as the time passes,” commented Srinivas, a resident of Mamidyala.

The villages that would be submerged under Kondapochamma include Mamidyala, Bailampur, Thanedarpally and Thanedarpally Tanda.
