Kodad student Mettu Namrutha has been selected by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to witness the landing of Chandrayaan 2 on the surface of the moon along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A student of Class VIII of Teja Vidyalaya here, Ms. Namrutha is one of the few students from Telangana and among 60 students from across the country to have bagged the opportunity.
According to the school, she qualified in the ‘Space Quiz’ conducted by ISRO, in which the participants were tested their awareness about space programmes. The online quiz was 600 seconds long and contained a maximum 20 questions. And winners, those with maximum correct answers in the shortest time, as suggested by the Ministry of Human Resource Development and the Central Board of Secondary Education would get to witness the rare spectacle.
The event at the ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network in Bengaluru is scheduled for September 7.
