Kin of Telangana martyrs given Rs. 10 lakh

Minister for Agriculture Pocharam Srinivas Reddy gave away of Rs.10 lakh each to the seven bereaved families of Telangana martyrs and commendation certificates to the best municipal sanitation workers at a function organised in connection with the 146th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, here on Friday.

Among the martyr families which received the cheques, included the families of Argu Naveen (Gannaram); Sundarikari Lakshminarayana; Gajula Raju; Gadewari Raju; and Alle Satyanarayana (Nizamabad); Mosra Sudhakar (Chandur); and Pathakala Mallesh (Chakiryal).

The municipal sanitation workers Malkanna, Lakshmi, Gangadhar, Lachhamma, Mallamma, China Sayamma, K. Raju, Lakshmi, Mallesh, Chandu, Lakshmi, Murali were honored with commendation letters for their best service.

The Corporation Bank’s Chief Manager Maheswar Reddy was felicitated for his initiative to extend loans to minorities.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that so far in the district 32 martyr families were provided with the financial assistance.

The government sanctioned 45,000 LPG connections under the Deepam scheme and over 32,000 eligible families were identified and they all would get the connections in their respective mandals, he said.

Earlier, the Minister accompanied by Collector Yogitha Rana garlanded the statues of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Sastri and paid homage by observing a two minute silence. Mayor Akula Sujatha, MLAs B. Ganesh Gupta and B. Govardhan and Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy also participated in the Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations.
