K. Chandrashekar Rao names son K.T. Rama Rao as Telangana Rashtra Samithi working president

The decision was widely welcomed by party leaders and cadres.

Firm on playing a key role in the national politics, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)president and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) appointed his son and Sircilla MLA K.T.Rama Rao (KTR) as the party’s working president.

“KCR has decided to concentrate more time on national politics to bring qualitative change in politics. KCR took this decision of appointing KTR as Working President (Executive President) with a view to entrust the responsibility of party affairs to a most trusted and efficient persons, since he would be preoccupied with the governance activities like expediting construction of irrigation projects and also to implement the electoral promises in letter and spirit,” a statement issued on Friday said.

The decision was widely welcomed by party leaders and cadres. Greetings poured in from all quarters on the elevation of the young leader, who has won his fourth election in a row.

The 42-year-old Mr. Rama Rao was the Minister of Information Technology, Panchayat Raj and Municipal Administration, and Urban Development in the outgoing Cabinet. Along with Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao and his cousin T. Harish Rao, Mr. Rama Rao extensively campaigned for the party in the recent elections, which resulted in the landslide victory to the TRS.

The statement issued on the Whatsapp group of the Chief Minister’s Office said Telangana people have immense faith and confidence on the TRS. “For a bright future of Telangana they want TRS party to be strong enough. In view of KCR decision to play pivotal role in national politics and take forward the welfare and development programs in the state, the work load on him would increase,” the release said.

New responsibilities

Responsibilities such as enrolment of party membership, construction of party offices in districts, and development of the party as the strongest one have been entrusted to Mr. Rama Rao, said the release.

Newly-elected TRS MLAs – S.Niranjan Reddy, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Guvvala Balaraju, Gadari Kishore and others told media that the promotion of Mr. Rama Rao as the working president would be an inspiration for the youth in the party. His efficient working style, be it politics or administration, will take the party to newer heights, they said.
