The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has demanded that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu be sacked immediately for allegedly making a “mockery of democracy.”

“The TPCC will approach the Election Commission, the President, the Governor and the Centre seeking the dismissal of both Chief Ministers for resorting to blatant violation of established democratic norms,” Mr Vikramarka said.

Talking to media persons along with party MLAs R. Venkat Reddy and P. Ajay Kumar at the District Congress Committee office here on Thursday, Mr. Vikramarka charged both Mr.Rao and Mr.Naidu with indulging in mudslinging each other over “unethical practices” and bringing “disgrace” to the people of both States.

Taking a swipe at Mr.Rao, he alleged that the TRS encouraged defections from other parties in an unethical manner from its first day in power. This violates the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution, he charged.

The cash-for-vote scam has exposed the political machinations of both the TDP and the TRS which are bent on thriving at the cost of democratic norms and people’s welfare.

The manner in which the TRS fielded five candidates and ensured their victory in the recent State Legislative Council elections, implied that the ruling party resorted to immoral practices, Mr.Vikramarka alleged.

“We appreciate the ongoing investigation into the ‘cash-for-vote scam’, but also want the Central government to order a probe into the defections engineered by the ruling TRS,” he said.
