Student leader and former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union, Kanhaiya Kumar, has made an appeal for unity among all the marginalised communities, in order to fight against the “divisive politics” he accused the Central government of.
Delivering extension lecture on ‘Safeguarding the Constitution’ organised by ‘The Siasat Daily’ here on Monday, Mr. Kanhaiya Kumar said such fight will be possible only when one marginalised community takes up the cause of other, thus countering the divisive agenda of the communal forces.
Accusing BJP of fostering enmity between communities such as Sunnis and Shias and Jatavs and non-Jatavs, he urged people to see through the agenda and stay united. Liberally interspersing his extempore address with Urdu couplets and anecdotes, the student leader who shot to fame with his ‘Azadi’ slogans in JNU for which he was arrested and charged with sedition, said questioning voices are sought to be silenced through threats, imprisonment and murders.
Divert and rule is the government’s modified policy from British era, which they are employing to deflect attention from corporate fraud and perpetuate inequality.
