The entire working class should join hands together by drawing inspiration from the May Day movement to wipe out the capitalist system and counter the “anti-labour” policies being vigorously pursued by the persons at the helm at the Centre and in the State, said CPI(M) State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram.

Mr Veerabhadram, who is the State convener of the Bahujan Left Front (BLF), was speaking at a meeting after inaugurating the office of various mass organisations ( praja sanghalu ) near the Grain Market, coinciding with the May Day celebrations here on Tuesday.

Noted Telugu film personality Paruchuri Gopalakrishna and the leaders of the Telangana Rythu Sangham, the CITU, the Telangana Mass and Social Organisations Forum, among others were present.

Mr Veerabhadram alleged that the BJP-led government at the Centre and the TRS government in the State are pursuing pro-corporate policies identical to the neo-liberal economic policies implemented by the successive Congress regimes in the past.

“The BJP disposition earned notoriety for thrusting backbreaking burden on common man, allowing scamsters leave the country unscathed, and undermining the interests of working class,” he charged.

He alleged that the fascist forces unleashed violence targeting dalits, minorities, women and downtrodden sections, besides rationalists in various parts of the country.

He said a joint struggle by the toiling masses under the aegis of the mass organisations representing weaker sections and marginalised groups is the only way forward to trounce the imperialist, fascist and anti-labour ruling classes in the country.

Earlier, red volunteers took out a huge rally in the town to mark the day.
