The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has promised to extend scholarship for 30 students from Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IITH) to study in universities located in Japan. The announcement was made at the IITH-Japan Collaboration Academic Fair held on the campus at Kandi near here on Tuesday. The scholarship amount will meet the expenditure for tuition fee and other daily expenditure.
The fair was aimed at explaining the research and study opportunities available at eight internationally renowned universities – Hiroshima, Hokkaido, Niigata, Okayama, Ritsumeikan, Shizuoka, Waseda and University of Tokyo.
Interacting with students, JICA representative Yoshiki Ehara, Maruti - Suzuki India Limited MD and CEO Kenichi Ayukawa and Hokkaido University Professor Toshiro Ohashi explained the students about the living environment, opportunities for further education and prospects of career in different fields.
IITH Director U.B. Desai explained about the education scenario at universities in Japan and how best the students can make use of the opportunity.
