A.K. Goel, Adviser to the Government of Telangana on Planning and Energy, urged officials to involve the poor in the process of development.

Dr. Marri Channa Reddy HRD Institute of Telangana organised a one-day ‘reorientation and capacity building programme for district officers of Siddipet and Janagaon in the context of Telangana’ on Thursday at the integrated Collectorate at Siddipet.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Goel said the State government’s innovative schemes like Mission Kakatiya, generous allocations for irrigation projects, and focus on revival of the rural economy have given a big boost to the multifaceted development of the State.

“Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has gone on record saying growth has no meaning and legitimacy if the poorer sections of the society are left out,” he said, adding that the reorganisation of districts has been done with a view to take the administration closer to the people and to formulate suitable policies to address the problems unique for every district.

Siddipet Collector P. Venkataramareddy said Telangana was transitioning from a shackled economy to that of an economy which was being nurtured back to fulfil the long-pending needs of its people.

Janagaon Collector A. Sri Devasena said that despite having been a backward region of erstwhile Warangal district, the district has been making its presence felt, both at the national level and the international level, through its achievements in multiple domains. People living in smaller districts have better access to administration, she added.

Two Telugu booklets — ‘Know your district-plan your district (Mana Zilla–Mana Pranalika)’ — for Siddipet and Janagaon were released on this occasion.
