The Centre for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE) of Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IITH), has called for applications for two-year fully-paid fellowship, of which the first year would be training programme followed by incubation in the second year. The last date for applying is April 15.
The fellowship comes with a stipend of ₹50,000 a month in the first year. It is open to applicants from all backgrounds, including doctors, management graduates, engineers and designers.
The CfHE, that partners with adjunct faculty from Stanford University during the fellowship, would expose its fellows to deep learning in bio-design process.
“The fellowship programme aims at training qualified candidates in having technological approach for nation’s pressing healthcare needs in a systematic and repeatable manner. It plans to fulfil its mission by incorporating hands-on clinical experience, creating engaged mentorship and building an ecosystem of healthcare partners, industries and venture capitalists,” said Renu John, co-head, CfHE, and head of department of biomedical engineering.
Two start-ups, NemoCare and BeAble, that came out of CfHE from 2017 batch have secured funding and are pitching successfully in the mainstream entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Access to mentors
The full-time in-residence fellowship and training includes deep clinical immersions at private and public hospitals and exposure to healthcare industry. Successful applicants would learn the bio-design process from IITH academics and would also be offered access to mentors, industry professionals, investors and advisers.
At the end of the first year, the qualifying individuals would be offered an incubation grant to start working on their dream idea. Interested can apply online at bit.do/ApplicationCfHE2018 or send an email to fhe@iith.ac.in .
The notification on short-listed candidates would be sent before May 10 and interview via Skype would be held between May 12 and 15. The final interview would be held at IITH campus in the last week of May.
