Telangana police are on the look out for Shivabhushanam alias Iqbal Islam Khan who allegedly played key role in the sensational land scam involving Andhra Pradesh Telugu Desam Party MLC G. Deepak Reddy and others.

Hyderabad Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths arrested the MLC, along with a lawyer B. Sailesh Saxena and an agent Srinivasa Rao late on Tuesday night and presented them before the magistrate in the early hours of Wednesday. The magistrate remanded them in judicial custody for 14 days.

The three accused were brought back to the CCS and lodged at the Chanchalguda central prison in the afternoon. Shivabhushanam’s arrest is likely to throw more light on the land scam as he, with the fictitious name of Iqbal, had allegedly sold 70 acres of land at Bhojagutta to one Shailaja of Hanuman Real Estate represented by Prakash Chandra Saxena and G. Deepak Reddy.

Prakash Chandra is father of the arrested lawyer Sailesh Saxena. He died a fortnight ago. “Shivabhushanam is an impersonator. He has no right to sell the land. Actually, the sale of 70 acres of land itself is fake. They just created the sale agreement document,” CCS ACP G. Jogaiah said on Wednesday. Furnishing these documents, associates of the arrested lawyer moved the “Land Grabbing Court” of Ranga Reddy and the High Court claiming rights over the land. Six acres out of the 70 acres of land was allotted by the Government to a housing society. A society member Ali Mohammed approached the Asifnagar police who registered a criminal case and transferred it to the CCS.

Investigators found the documents were forged and Iqbal a fictitious person. Almost simultaneously, the CCS officials received another complaint from Abhyudaya Housing Society -represented by Radhakrishnamurthy, who alleged that some persons tried to illegally occupy 3.37 acres of its land near road no. 2 of Banjara Hills.

MLC Deepak Reddy and Prakash Chandra Saxena moved the court claiming rights over the land stating that two persons Akbar Ansari and Khaja Mohiuddin sold it to them. “They secured anticipatory bail and surrendered before a local court in this case,” the ACP said.
