Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday announced hike in the honorarium of home guards from Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 12,000 a month.

The revised amount would be paid from April next year as there is no cushion for hike in this year's budget that was passed by Assembly last month, Mr. Rao said when the decision was taken in the presence of Director General of Police Anurag Sharma, Principal Finance Secretary V. Nagi Reddy and Inspector General of Police (Intelligence) B. Sashidhar Reddy.

Mr. Rao also announced for home guards medical insurance, two pairs of uniforms every year, bus pass for those working in Hyderabad and Cyberabad police commissionerates and hike in parade allowance from Rs. 28 to Rs. 100.
