To get relief from their daily routine, about 40 teachers from various government schools gathered at Duginevelli Zilla Parishad High School to have fun. They played various games at a programme organised by an international NGO, Play For Peace, here on Monday.
Global play facilitator of the NGO, Nisha Sharma, organised the programme where she organised games. Speaking to The Hindu , Ms. Sharma said that they taught about two dozen games to teachers during the day-long session which the teachers can conduct themselves at least once in a week after forming a club to rekindle their energies to go to classes with lots of freshness and enthusiasm after the weekend.
She said the kind of games would literally lay down neurological pathways within their brain limbic system which generates positive long-term affective on one’s behaviour.
Stating that their NGO conducts such programmes across the world, Ms. Sharma said that she believes participation in the programmes helps people working at all levels to improve their performance, not only at professional level, but also at home.
Students, teachers and managements have conflicts between them during their day-to-day activities, but that can largely be eased out by conducting these kind of games between them, she opined.
A teacher, G. Padmavathi, said that they were very much relived after participating in the programme and wanted to continue the activity by forming a club. Routinely, teachers watch children play, but today, students cheered them up while the teachers were playing.
