Hundreds of boys and girls participated in the Olympic Day Run organised by the Olympic Association of Telangana here on Friday, according to OAT president K. Ranga Rao.

The Run, flagged off from six different centres in the twin cities, culminated at Fateh Maidan Indoor Stadium here.

Telangana Sports Minister T. Padma Rao Goud received the torches from all the six centres. Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Bonthu Rammohan, SATS Chairman A. Venkateshwar Reddy, Advisor to State Government B.V. Papa Rao, Principal Secretary to State Government B. Venkatesham and Vice Chairman and Managing Director Sports Authority of Telangana State A. Dinakar Babu, among others.

From the sports fraternity, football Olympians Zulfiqaruddin, Hamid, former India hockey goalkeeper and Atlanta Olympian Edwards Alloysius, athletes Nagamani, Vikesh Kumar were among those who participated.

Speaking on the occasion, Sports Minister reiterated the State Government’s resolve to promote sports in a big way and also said efforts were on to usher in a new chapter for coaches, in sports quota recruitment for outstanding achievers.

OAT general secretary S.R. Prem Raj, thanked the State Government, SATS, GHMC and the Police Department for their support in making the event a big success.
