Government schools will be strengthened: Ministers

In the first phase, 239 basti schools to be covered

Home Minister Mahmood Ali and Animal Husbandry Minister T. Srinivas Yadav said that the government will take all steps to strengthen government schools.

Mr. Srinivas Yadav held a review meeting on ‘Mana Basti - Mana Badi’ programme along with Mahmood Ali at his office on Saturday in which MLAs, MLCs and others participated.

“The programme was taken up to improve and strengthen the government schools and create a positive environment in schools where children can learn with interest. There are a total of 690 schools in Hyderabad district, including 499 primary, nine upper primary and 182 high schools with about 1.25 lakh students. In the first phase, 239 schools will be developed, 10 schools in each constituency. Facilities like drinking water, power supply, furniture, wash rooms with water facility, compound wall, kitchen and construction of class rooms which are in dilapidated condition will be taken up immediately,” said the Ministers adding that the officials were directed to prepare an action plan for digital education in consultation with MLAs and MLCs. Some of the public representatives suggested construction of some more government schools in available government lands as the present schools are not sufficient.

There also suggested improvement of playgrounds.

The Ministers informed that these issues will be discussed in the Cabinet Sub Committee meeting that would be held on Monday. Stating that the government is according top priority for education, Mr. Mahmood Ali said that these schools will be developed with funds allotted by government as well as private donors.
