GITAM University is now all set to encourage 100 start-up companies set up by their engineering and managements students.
GITAM School of Technology director Prof. N. Siva Prasad said that the university has been planning to constitute a national-level advisory committee to encourage entrepreneurship through its existing campuses in Bangalore, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad.
Inaugurating a workshop on ‘Mobile Application Development and 3D Printing’ with an aim to encourage start-ups, the director said that the student community should take advantage of the State government’s initiatives and incentives to set up start-up companies.
“Our university is also allocating special budget to encourage research activities which would facilitate start-up companies”, he said.
Famous product designer Honey Bajaj is the resource person to this workshop and she appreciated the efforts of GITAM to encourage the budding entrepreneurs.
She has conducted ‘Design Thinking’ workshop for over 4,000 individuals and students at various places across the globe.
Young CEOs from various fields, including Helios Eco-Vidyut Private Limited’s Ravi Teja Muthu, Dirt9’s Suraj Kumar, young technocrat Rajkumar and students participated in the workshop.
The workshop will continue for 30 days.
