Hundreds of rural youth are getting coaching for competitive examinations free of cost at camps organized by the Errabelli Dayakar Rao Charitable Trust at two places in the district.

There are 800 students at Thorrur camp and over 600 students at Palakurthy camp being given free coaching for the recent job notifications issued by TSPSC, like village revenue officer (VRO), Group IV, sub inspector and police constable.

Gogudu Mamatha, from Chityala village of Peda Vangara mandal, who completed B.Sc (BZC) is attending the free coaching camp at Thorrur. “This is really a god sent opportunity to me and my friends. We cannot afford to go to Hyderabad or Warangal and stay there apart from pay for the coaching,” she told The Hindu .

Another student, G. Yugender Reddy, from Regula village of Kodakandla mandal, said the free coaching was immensely benefitting him. He did his MA (Economics) and was appearing for all recruitment tests. “We thank our MLA Errabelli Dayakar Rao for his kind gesture,” he said.

At the camp, the students are given free study material, provided with lunch and snacks and exposed to guest faculty as well. They have regular faculty teaching Mental Ability, English, Telangana History, Physics and Geography.

Thorrur Camp incharge M. Suresh said they invited Mahabubabad Superintendent of Police N. Koti Reddy on Friday who shared his experiences.

“The students are really thrilled at people from different walks of life coming here apart from regular faculty,” he explained.

According to him, the duration of camp is 50 days and all the participants would be given free material at the end of the camp. “Many students are very poor and they cannot pay for coaching. In mandal headquarters like Thorrur, we do not have such facilities. The students are forced to go to Warangal or Hyderabad,” he pointed out.

“I want pay back to society and hence floated the trust to undertake activities like these,” Mr. Dayakar Rao told The Hindu.

The trust is running a number of projects like free medical camps, empowerment of communities among others, he added.
