“Forget defeat and show the Congress party has a history of making strong come-backs. Campaign with the sole slogan that it is going to be Modi Vs Rahul election and the need for Congress to come back to power to save the country,” Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy told the Congress leaders kick-starting the three-day brainstorming sessions for Parliamentary elections.

The TPCC chief pointed out that there were multiple factors like defective EVMs, wrong poll processes, biased attitude of Election Commission or deletion of voters which led to Congress party’s defeat in last Assembly elections. “But now its a new day and new game and ensure that all available resources and strengths are utilised to make Rahul Gandhi the next Prime Minister,” he said.

Mr. Reddy said views and opinions of each and every Congress worker will count in the Parliamentary polls. The meeting, held at a private hotel, was attended by senior leaders, including AICC Telangana incharge R.C. Khuntia and CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

‘Expose PM’

On the first day, the meeting was held with leaders of Adilabad, Peddapalli, Nizamabad, Zaheerabad, Karimnagar and Warangal Lok Sabha constituencies. He asked all leaders from mandal to block level to give their opinion on the candidates to their respective DCC presidents.

Mr. Reddy asked them to expose the failures of Prime Minister Narender Modi’s government. Remind people about the promised ₹ 15 lakh each in their account, bringing black money from abroad, failure to create 2 crore jobs every year, he said. He also wanted the cadre to expose the ‘communal agenda’ of the Modi government.

Mr. Khuntia said with an average of 10 leaders from each Assembly constituency more than 70 leaders in a Parliamentary constituency were being involved in the process of selecting candidates and formulating election strategy.

The Congress leaders from various constituencies gave several suggestions like having a better mechanism to monitor election campaign, a vigilant approach to check and prevent misuse of EVMs or violation of other poll processes and effective plan to ensure a wider reach among voters. The brainstorming sessions will continue for two more days. Earlier, the Congress leaders paid condolences to the martyrs of Pulwama terror attack. Two-minute silence was observed in respect and honour of CRPF personnel who were martyred.
