Scores of devotees drag the chariot during the auspicious Rathotsavam (Chariot Festival) conducted as a part of the ongoing brahmotsavams of Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy temple at Appalayagunta on Saturday.

The temple precincts of Sri Prasanna Venkateswara Swamy temple at Appalayagunta reverberated with the chants of Govinda Namam as devotees thronged it in huge numbers to pull the flower-bedecked chariot during Rathotsavam on the penultimate day of the annual Brahmotsavams here on Saturday.

The massive chariot was taken in a procession by enthusiastic devotees, followed by the bhajan troupes and artistes who turned the atmosphere delightful at Rathotsavam, also known as chariot festival, with religious fervour.

According to scriptures, Rathotsavam has a spiritual message embedded in the conduct of the event i.e. it signifies the merging of body with the soul.
