January 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - KHAMMAM:

The Burgumpadu police on Friday arrested four persons in connection with the seizure of an illegal consignment of explosive material from a lorry bound for Maoist-affected Malkangiri district of Odisha, at Morampalli Banjar on Thursday.

The arrested persons included three crew members of the lorry and an unauthorised seller of the explosive material from Teldarpalli in Khammam rural mandal, police sources said.

The police are on the lookout for a Malkangiri-based contractor, who originally hails from Palvancha division.

They suspect that the consignment of explosive material was procured from a quarry in Nalgonda district and was supposed to be delivered to the ultras in Odisha through the contractor.
