In a step towards public safety, Karimnagar Commissionerate of Police is bringing every village in the district under CCTV surveillance, said Police Commissioner V.B. Kamalasan Reddy.
Speaking after inaugurating 64 CCTV cameras installed by the residents of Vidyanagar locality here on Sunday, the Commissioner of Police said CCTV cameras have, so far, been set up in all the villages of five mandals.
Appreciating the residents for the installation of CCTV cameras to beef up security in their colony, he called upon people to download Hawk Eye app and alert the police for any kind of assistance and for lodging complaints without having to go to the police station.
Municipal help
Mayor S. Ravinder Singh said the municipal corporation would release ₹1 crore to the police department for the installation of CCTV cameras in all divisions of the town and tenders would be called for the construction of command control centre within three to four days.
Meanwhile, Sircilla polytechnic college administrative officer Muninder Reddy donated ₹25,116 towards the CCTV campaign in the town.
