Commercial production has begun at a manufacturing facility for doors that NCL Industries Ltd has established in technical collaboration with Turkish firm AGT at Malkapur on the outskirts of Hyderabad with an investment of ₹50 crore.

With an installed capacity of 1,000 doors in a single shift, the 2 lakh sq ft plant is the largest one for doors in India, senior executives of NCL told media here on Friday.

NCL is entering the market with the Duradoor brand range of premium doors to meet the rising demand for doors from the housing and commercial buildings materials market. It aims to clock double-digit growth in the segment over the next few years, managing director K.Ravi said. The door and window sector in the country is estimated to be the order of ₹15,000 crore per annum.

Plant inaugurated

The product in the price range ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 are made of high density, high moisture MDF comprises the shutter, architrave, frame and hardware. AGT had re-sited some machinery from one of its plant from Turkey to the facility here as it planned to focus on flooring laminates. The plant was inaugurated on Wednesday by AGT’s director (technical operations) Kurtuluş Topaloglu.

President and CEO of the Doors Division of NCL Vivek Gudena said the doors, to be available in the market from next week, would be for apartments, houses and villas, hospitals, hotels and commercial buildings.

On the cement business — NCL Industries is part of NCL Group and behind Nagarjuna Cement — Mr. Ravi and executive director and CFO N. G. V. S. G. Prasad said the company would invest ₹80-90 crore on setting up a waste heat recovery facility at its 1.7 million tonne cement plant in Telangana.

The waste heat recovery project, expected to take 18 months for implementation, will result in power savings to the tune of around ₹25 crore annually. The company also has a 1 MT cement plant near Vijayawada.

Cement prices

Cement prices, Mr. Ravi said, would be firming up further, possibly by about ₹20 more for a 50 kg bag. This comes in the backdrop of growing demand for the commodity in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, where several infrastructure and housing projects were under way.
