The time limit for inter-State transfer of employees whose applications have been pending has been extended till June 30, 2019.

The committee, constituted by the State governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, had issued guidelines in August 2017 to consider inter-State transfers of local cadre (district/zone/multi-zonal) and State cadre employees on spouse grounds and on mutual basis duly prescribing the time limit of two months for processing the applications and issue of orders.

The above time limit was extended till June 30, 2018 and subsequently till December 31, 2018 as some proposals were pending for disposal. After consultation with the Telangana government, Andhra Pradesh government in a release said that time limit for inter-State transfers has been extended afresh only for the applications that are pending as on December 31, 2018.

The bulk of the applications were related to local cadre compared to State cadre employees and again the majority of applications were from the education department (teachers) and police department. As the disposal process is decentralised to the departments concerned, it is difficult to give a cumulative figure, said sources. The decision to extend the deadline for processing and disposal of pending applications of employees for inter-State transfers will bring relief to families living apart after bifurcation. Some transfers were done but there are many still waiting to join their families living either in Telangana or Andhra Pradesh.
