Protesting against the alleged adamant attitude of the government in not releasing water in Kakatiya canal from Sri Ram Sagar Project for kharif activities two Congress elected representatives tendered their resignations to public office.

Balkonda ZPTC member Jogu Sangeetha and the Mendora MPTC member Mittapally Rajeswar submitted their resignations to Collector M. Ram Mohan Rao here on Thursday, in protest against the dishonour of the demand for the release of water for irrigation in the SRSP ayacut.

They said that the government had not taken steps to release water despite the fact that farmers have been waiting for water and paddy was not yet transplanted in many areas and it was drying up in the places where transplantation took place.

Meanwhile, police camps in villages are continuing in view of the volatile situation.
